The Cornerstone Connection
Weekly Chapel
Each week, students get the opportunity to participate in chapel. For our Lower School students, it has been a beautiful time learning that God’s Word can be trusted and that His Word should shape our lives. Our Second Graders recently shared a song they have been learning called, “Happy in Jesus.” How wonderful it was hearing students singing about the forgiveness, freedom, joy and peace that Christ brings.
Highschool Retreats
Cornerstone kicked off the school year with retreats for Eighth Grade and High School students with no phones! The Eighth Grade was joyfully hosted by volunteers at their home, and many students experienced water sports for the first time. Being outside their daily comfort zone, they established a deeper faith and unity that has strengthened the middle school culture.
Our High School students spent time at Highland Retreat Center where they were able to explore nature and build relationships with one another. Activities like rope climbing challenged students physically and mentally while also creating a sense of camaraderie amongst the group. Our High School Principal, Mr. Newsome, reflected on the importance of this time in saying, “One of the greatest hopes for students is that they return with a renewed sense of purpose and unity, ready to contribute positively to the school community and their own development.”
