The Cornerstone Mission

The vision of Cornerstone Schools is to provide a Christ-centered, nurturing and academically rigorous education for the young people of Washington, D.C. Both of our campuses are built on the core principles of spiritual growth, academic excellence, discipline, personal responsibility, and community involvement. We seek to instill in God's children a lifelong joy of learning and to equip them with the knowledge, skills and values necessary to become leaders who serve others in light of Christ and His truth. Cornerstone Schools aim to reflect the cultural and economic diversity of the communities they serve and to become a cornerstone of hope there.

The Cornerstone Philosophy

Academic Training

At Cornerstone, we believe each child should have the opportunity to reach his or her full potential. We begin by integrating faith and learning through an outstanding academic program. During our extended school year, we emphasize basic skills in the core subjects of language arts and math. In addition, our curriculum focuses on critical thinking to produce young people who can make wise decisions throughout life. All Cornerstone students study a foreign language, and class work is reinforced with mandatory homework. Our parents also commit to being involved, both through helping students at home and volunteering at the school.

Character Development

With its Christ-centered focus, Cornerstone provides the tools necessary to develop strong character. God's truth is infused throughout the curriculum and is reinforced in chapel each week, where the students learn important lessons from the Scriptures. These lessons are put into practice in the classroom, on the playground, and in student service projects. Each morning, the school comes alive as students belt out Gospel songs during praise and worship time.
Cornerstone's combination of academic excellence and moral teaching provides the best possible environment for children to grow into well-educated and responsible men and women.
